Research: Psychological Effects of Endometriosis

Current research has indicated that endometriosis has a number of psychological effects on women who suffer with this disease. However, the research is extremely limited and has predominately taken place in the USA. There is no available research or statistics in South Africa on not only the prevalence of endometriosis; but more importantly the effects it has on the lives of those who suffer with this disease.
I am currently completing my masters degree in research psychology and am trying to address this issue by researching the psychological effects of endometriosis. It is important to remember that this disease does not just effect one physically, but it influences multiple aspects of a women's life and in turn, effects partners & families of these women.

It is extremely important that we bring awareness to the South African community regarding this disease and its effects; and that we start creating support networks for the women who live with this disease. Through collective strength, hopefully we will be able to bring about improved treatment options and awareness for women.

If you would like to share your story, please contact me for further details or post on the blog.
